Default BUI in michigan... what to expect has anyone had one

Well as the topic says I got a BUI this weekend in Michigan from the DNR I blew a .11 they arrested me and i spent the night in county jail. friends of mine were able to take the boat back to the trailer. I was informed that it will not affect my driver's license as far as driving a vehicle goes but I am Not 100% sure I'm looking for advice from someone who has been there and for a heads up on what to expect next thank you

That's what you get for boating under the influence. Boat or car it's still a DUI. Just glad you didn't injure anybody, save the drinks for when you get back to the dock.

As far as I know it is treated the same as an auto DUI with similar penalties.

Best bet is to consult with an attorney. What to expect vares on priors and other variables. I wouldn't just go in and plea guilty.

Where did this happen?

Just curious. What was the stop for? Loud exhaust? Safety check? Or actual unsafe operation?

Definitely consult with an attorney.

That sucks dude, some of us are lucky enough to get away with a few beers and some aren't. Did they take your drivers license? I would probably pony up and get attorney. I've never had one. A buddy of mine got one at the launch in a motor vehicle here in Ohio, he lived in FL so he basically blew it off. He doesn't come back to Northern Ohio anymore. I would worry too about you employer, unless you self employed. I know mine would want to know. Good luck keep us posted.

My experience from 10 years ago was that a convicted BUI couldn't operate a boat on the waters of the state for one year.

The OP has not been back on the board since the day he posted. I wouldn't follow this thread anymore.
