I need some meaningful assistance!
I have a Baja 40 SST with triple 500 EFIs and XZ drives and weighs dry 11,200 pounds.
The boat runs 81-83 mph which we are very happy with, excellent balance and fantastic in choppy water. BUT we are plagued with mechanical failures and are proposing the following installation.
A few months ago I purchased a pair of 725 Ilmors with enough kit to have side by side or staggered set up, I don't have drives or transoms yet so advice here would be good too, has anyone here done a similar thing to a Baja 40?
How would the circa 1700 pounds in weight reduction in the rear affect the balance when running at high speeds?
I await any useful comments.
John.

I have also researched converting a triple to twins. First off if you just plug the center hole, and go side by side it will be the easy way to go, but will be a dog. if you go staggered (best way) you will have to replace transom and re-do stringer placement. Big money. then you will need alot of power for the same speed you are getting, and will no way have the same acceleration you have now. And then there is the drives. You will have to go the route of say a 6 drive & tranny, if you plan on going big power. Your bravo drives will not stand a chance as twins with big power. I would not give up my trips for twins ever. Just fix what needs to be fixed and go boating

Staggered with Arneson drives would be my first choice! Wiesman or X-Power could be cool. SCX upper and lower will be strong enough but way to slow. You need every advantage possible to make it worth the money put into your boat. I would even consider shiftable crash boxes. But lots of work and money. Love the 40 Outlaws but they never really got them to run fast. Not saying its impossible but will take some dialing in, just like any boat. Some boats are easier since the manufacture spend time and money to get it right, sometimes you can copy someone elses. You are the first, and I wish you luck!
