Default 6.2 to 8.1ho swap (wiring help )

good friend has a Crownline bowrider with a 496 ho he has bought a newer boat but it has a 6.2 in it . He wants to swap the 6.2 for the 8.1 . Is the electrical plug in play or will we have to do some rewiring . He is going to put the 6.2 in his crownline and then sell it .
The larson he is buying does come from the factory with a 496ho so it will fit in the bildge OK

depending on years Merc used 10 pin non DTS and DTS and then went to 14 Pin non DTS and DTS so maybe not a simple plug and play. Who knows not enough info to determine this. Just saying

Agreed bup but I dont think a Crownline Bowrider would have had dts. I Also think you can get a 10 pin to 14 pin connector . So maybe plug-plug and play...

I was just saying because as the first 5 - 496's at the start of the year that I had in for repairs was a Sea Ray, A Formula 260 BR and Cobalt 262, A Monterey and a Regal all had 496 DTS years were 2005 or 2006 thru 2009. I have not seen a Crownline this year with DTS but I think so in the past. Not many. Yes on the adaptor also.
