Default OT Indianopolis/Chicago

I'm still a newbie to the board, but I am heading to Indy for the Formula 1 US 500 race Sept. 26-30. I was hoping that you all could give me ideas on things to do in Indy while I am there. We are also thinking about driving to Chicago on the day of arrival (Thursday), so any information there would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance for any replies.

If you are in Indy you should visit Keystone. This is a very nice section of Indianapolis. There is a mall and some nice restaurants. You could also go to the circle center downtown or broadripple if you want to party. I would recommend Chicago though, more money but definately a better time.

If you are going to Chicago, take some time a drive around the loop (downtown). The trip to the top of the sears tower is also worth the fee. Just don't plan on parking! The field museum is also well worth the trip. Proably would take you a full day though.

Navy Pier, Adler PLanitarium, Shed Aquarium, and the Field Museum are all walking distance of each other. PLus you get to walk past the harbor and watch the boats!

A few ideas on Indy... Circle City Mall in downtown Indy. Killer restaurants in downtown: Ruth Chris, Palominos, Mortons Steak House, St Elmo's. Northside would be the Keystone Grill and Peter's (86th & Keystone). Near that area is a indoor carting track for big boys. Fastimes 566-0066 or Stefan Johansson's Karting Center 297-5278, closer to the Speedway. Serious indoor 40+ MPH cart tracks.
