The pic Dave posted was the Popeye we all knew. The first pic was actually taken a few months after Brutus introduced Popeye to the joys of freebasing cocaine. It was pretty much downhill from there on out.

My father had a picture of Archimedes hanging in the garage where the family runabout was stored and he once told me that if it wasn't for this guy with the beard, we'd still be on surfboards.
It's funny the slightly eccentric or unusual things that we put in memory banks.....
