Default Whats the power needed to run marine a/c in boat at home?

I wanted to winterize the a/c this after noon so i hooked up the antifreeze to the water inlet for a/c. My 110 v cord for shore power only runs the fan. The compressor starts like 1 second and turn back off. Im no electricity expert so what kind of power do we have at home and what is the power needed to run a maine a/c in a boat?

Thanks!

My Regal will run the AC no problem on the extension cord. I would guess if yours is starting and shutting down then perhaps you are running low voltage out of the extension cord. Borrow a buddies generator and run a short extension cord. My Honda EU2000 will run my A/C with no trouble.

I had this issue when I finished installing my Mermaid A/C unit, off 110V with a shorepower adapter, with a garden hose hooked up to the system. Took it to the lake, it ran just fine.

Mermaid A/C units, will shut compressor down, if water flow is lacking.

Good idea ill try to run it on the water hose with pression instead of gravity fed antifreeze bottle, ill see if it works better.

Thanks for that info

Is'nt there like 110 volt 30 amp and 110 volt 50 amp?

My flagship has a thermal reset if it has lack of water flow.

To winterised the ac just put antifreeze in a bucket with a small pump with a garden hose on it. Put the hose up to tight or into the a.c. outlet on the side of the boat. Turn the pump on and run it till u see the antifreeze come out the bottom inlet and you r done. That pushes all the water out of the system and u dont have to turn it on.

Another good idea! What kind of pump are you using? Like a primer bulb from an outboard fuel line?

Turns out it was not a water pressure or electricity problem. I hooked it on the garden hose so pressure was not the issue. I was the able to try the heat, wich ran perfect. But turning on the a/c, that is only taking between 7 to 9 amp by the way, i still have the same problem, i can hear the contactor kicking in, then the compressor starts and goes back off within half a second. But after trying and trying, it once worked without turning off for 15 minutes, till and switched to heat again, after that try it never started again...

So my guess is something like contactor or something like that. I sent pictures and info to tech support at mermaid marine following their suggestion on the phone last... Wednesday i think...a/c is not completly out of the boat so no need to winterize anymore!!!

If you run a March "LC" type pump in your system, that is not a good way of winterizing the pump.....the cooling tube is almost 3' long before its bent up and wrapped around the motor.....running the liquid backwards will not get all the water out of the cooling line....and over a hard freeze you could rupture it and come spring time when its called into service it will start to flood the pumps motor from the inside and either rust it or short it out....just FYI.
