Default Autumn leaves pi$$ me off.

Usually in the fall when I'm winterizing the boat I'm complaining about the lack of room in the engine compartment or how many cuts I got from hose clamp ends. This year it's the darn leaves. I had the hatch raised and I worked on the winterizing to do list yesterday. It was windy and until I was done I really didn't pay much attenton to the leaves falling from our trees.
So there is a significant accumulation of leaves in the bildge ! I cannot reach many of them. They are not magnetic ! Long hemostats worked on some. The backpack leaf blower is helping. S.O.B. I can see it now. Leaves clog the bildge pumps and the boat sinks next spring. Wait that's a good plan, need to check the insurance policy.

+1 on that. I live on a street with a ton of mature trees. We just sold our house and that is the first thing I'm NOT going to miss.

I feel your pain. Have a mix of purple maples and pine trees on my property and every year at this time I day dream of running around outside with a chainsaw.

For about 6 yrs I had a small tree that would be right at the rear corner of my boat when I would park it for winter. I had the same problem because the NJ Shore is ALWAYS windy in the Fall. Every year I would battle with the leaves that would blow in the boat and get agitated, as if the winterization process wasnt bad enough without having all these leaves blowing in. One year, I finally had enough. Chainsaw out, tree down, and the bonus is, the boat fits 3' further back in the driveway now!

It could be worse!!
A Willow tree right next to the boat!!!! And its the neighbors so I cannot cut it down
Always have to trim it twice a year to keep the branches high enough off the boat/truck as it overhangs my driveway
Hate them!! Small leaves that stick to everything!
Thin that make it hard to pickup by hand
and the worse, this thing sheds YEAR ROUND!
I always have to clean my driveway before snow blowing to prevent the branches from clogging the chute!

Worse yet , if you miss some leaves on the bow when you shrink wrap or cover the boat you will have perfect little leaf shaped stains in the gelcoat come spring that don't always come off ! That was a hard lesson , required wet sand and buff to get them all.
