there is no minimum time frame you can pretty much put one after the other. Max time can vary, i like to get layers on next day if i cant do wet on wet. Your safe through a couple days but sooner the better. If i go past four or five days, a week max i get the grinder out and scuff up.

Thanks for the info. How thick can you go at one time, Does the resin heating up become an issue?

yes the exotherm will build if your not careful, there a lot of factors you need to keep in mind. Final desired thickness, shop temp, type of resin and cat ratio to name a few. I dont know that there is a max thickness, in theory you could build to any thickness without stopping but you'd have to know that going in and mix/build accordingly. I build the inner structure and running surface on a fourteen foot speedster (looks like a little Gar Wood) and its roughly an inch thick when done and we build start to finish in a single long day. We all the patterns, cut stringers and gelcoat day before but the whole build and lay up is done wet on wet in one long day. As we go I will back MEK down as heat builds, ya really gotta pay attention it can get away from ya quick.

How thick do you need to go?

One of the things I learned at hte glass dave academy.... too much wetted out can get a little difficult to control in compound areas when your trying to balance it. That was 6 layers of 1708 at once. I backed it down to 2 layers, wait 45 min. next 2. wait 45... and it went much better
