I could use some advice. I am looking to buy a used boat (pref 2006 and up) that will be reliable and fun and go about 100MPH. I go out on the ocean here on the west coast as well as to lake havasu and laughlin on the colorado river.
I currently have an eliminator 260 eagle xp open bow cuddy, and I love it, but it only goes about 75, is too small, and has no porta potty for the day trips to the islands here on the west coast. was looking at Donzi 35zr with 525 efi's (about 92MPH), and a 38zr with 525 EFI's (about 88-90 MPH), and was leaning towards the 38, but I thought it may be a bit too slow. So, I started looking at top guns and fountains, and have boat search fatigue. So I thought i would reach out to a few of you who know much more than I and ask what your thoughts were, and if you knew of any great deals out there.
I want to spend about 100-125k, and I always have a group of people and kids with us and am looking for something that looks bad ass, is fast but reliable, and with a porta potty.
thanks for the help!

Over 100mph in that price and age range will be difficult at best. You will be talking about twin 700hp motors and NXT or #6 drives which drives up the cost of the boats.
A staggered 525 38 zr Donzi or 42 Fountain will give you the best speed with roomy cockpits and useable cabins and be close to your budget. You might find a 38 Cigarette in that range but it will be slower. (side by side and heavier boat).

I know of a 2004 42' Cigarette Tiger that is for sale for $145K Maybe he will work a deal but the boat is stored inside and flawless. Brand new Merc 575's and drives, sitting on a Myco trailer and runs well into the 90's. Awesome paint job on it too, the boat is extremely nice!
PM if you want the owners number.

Welcome WCTim!
Sounds like your on a good path for some fun!
I assume 2006 or newer so it's easier to finance?
In all honesty you are stepping into a some what unreliable territory, or at very minimum more expensive maintinance then some enjoy to afford. Those speeds and larger size just cost so much more to own, especially if you actually want to enjoy your new offshore boat like its made to be enjoyed! So don't forget to budget for drive rebuilds, engine refresh, header leaks, plus small misc and general service.
My advice is buy less then you can afford so you can enjoy using your toy and maintaining the unexpected, because it WILL break.
Buy what is the best overall bang for the buck. So far your on a good path. Don't think you can go wrong with a 35 or 38 Donzi ZR, 42 fountain, also check out the 39 and 41 Velocity. I personally love Cigarette but again see what you find. If your stuck on 100mph better make sure you can hit that number any time you want so really it should go 103-107, or your not going to be happy. We are guys, and always want more! LOL
Good luck on your search
