Default 1985 scarab kevlar 38 foot buying concerns

I am currently concidering purchasing a 1985 38 foot kevlar scarab that need to be restored. It seems to be in fair condition, it has Aronson drives installed and no power in the sale. What might be concerns about this boat if one were concidering owning this model?

Soft transon. I know somebody that loves scarabs and had to deal with this multiple times, Very sad.

So Brad you say it suffers from a soft transom, is it that Kevlar was a bad choice to make a boat out of which would make the whole hull soft or just a bad transom design? And is this flaw true of all scarabs or just the kevlar ones?

A flaw in all Scarabs. They always did a poor job of sealing things when they were rigging. Once you fix everything you will have a great boat that is a true classic.
