Roll Call/Info for FMO fun run to Parrot Key Caribbean Grill January 30th
#1
Event organizer: Meghan Brousseau
Attending captains please read entire document in order to minimize any confusion. Due to dockage it is important that you reply to this e mail or post on oso if you are attending.
This fun run was not on the original schedule but with the long gap before the next run we wanted to put something together. We will be going to Parrot Key Caribbean Grill located on Fort Myers Beach at Salty Sam’s Marina. www.myparrotkey.com
Membership information/renewal:
All vessels participating in FMO events are required to carry insurance and have a club membership. Memberships are on a calendar year basis and if you have not yet renewed your membership for 2016 or are new and wanting to join the club please visit our website.
Route:
Our starting point will once again be the south side of the Sanibel Bridge. Boats should assemble around 10:45am and we will leave by 11:00 Sharp. Depending on weather conditions we will run the outside to red fish pass. We will then go through red fish pass and run the ICW to Fort Myers Beach. A sandbar has been building off the tip of Sanibel. When we start I will make a wide turn to miss the sandbar. If you are not familiar with the water please do not go in between myself and Sanibel, make sure you stay on the gulf side. Again when we enter red fish pass make sure you do not cut the channel as there are a couple sandbars. If you are not comfortable running in the gulf feel free to run the ICW up to red fish pass to meet us and run back in the ICW.
In addition while at lunch we will talk about a possible raft up for anyone that is interested.
Dockage:
Dockage this time of year is very difficult. The dockmaster and his staff will be keeping slips open for our group. We will need to provide him with a list of boats so they know how many slips to keep. Please follow the instructions of the dock hands and make sure you take care of them. Remember they are not only working to get us in but also turning other boats away. As needed we will send another e mail to attending captains regarding dockage
Fuel/Distance:
From the Sanibel bridge to red fish pass and back down the ICW is about 50 miles. As always 93 octane is very difficult to find so please leave with a full tank.
Food:
We will have a buffet lunch with ribs, pork, chicken, salad etc.
Communication:
My cell number is 239-849-6533. Anyone dropping out after the start should let me know so we do not spend time either waiting or looking for you. Please leave a message if I do not answer.
Weather/Sea Conditions:
To be posted on OSO prior to the run and updated as needed.
Tide:
Fort Myers high tide is 7:21AM and low tide at 1:57 pm. The high tide is not very high. Be aware of any fronts coming through causing an issue to get your boat of the lift.
Safety:
Each boat captain is required to operate his vessel in a safe manner and is responsible for his/her crew and their safety. When running in the ICW please be aware that this can be a high traffic area and we ask that other boats be given a wide berth and that the rules of the road be adhered to.

I'm reluctant to even mention anything about attending this event since I'm currently 0-2 when it comes to making FMO events I've committed to and paid for. No need to tell me that 3 strikes and I'm out, I'm well aware.
Looking forward to catching up w/ my fellow FMO members.
