They can all have there issues. One click of a google search and you'll tell your daughter to throw out her easy bake oven.

I looked at your selection and the site. as I'm a GM guy I found the 2004 Suburban. add a Firestone bag kit (inside coil helper on some models) to offset the tongue weight and you'll have the best off both worlds

The H2 hummer you mentioned or as I say.. Bummer.. has it value in that it has a true 3/4 ton set up. (8- lug axel etc) But the 6.0 was a fuel drinker in that truck.

You are low on pull weight with your boat ......but 4500 lbs turns into 10000 upon any 4-6 percent grade.

Risking wiping out a rear Axel crush sleeves with Half ton trucks with one full throttle uphill pull.
3/4 ton mostly have shimmed solid pinion sleeves to avoid that.

(call Ford and Dodge local depts and ask how there 1/2 rear Axel pinon bearings are set up)

In the end.. yes they will all work but its still an expense.. hooked to your boat once in a while.. so get what you enjoy driving.,, and looking at ..... everything can be fixed.

I vote the Dodge. My last 2 Ram1500 trucks have been awesome. Racked up 140k on a 2004 and only did 1 set of brakes, normal maintenance and tires. About 80k on a 2011 with just oil changes and one set of tires. Both spent the majority of thier lives towing about 6000 pounds of boat and trailer.

Yeah, we got this really big hill by us that sometimes, you can't even get through. So many half ton trucks broke down towing trailers. Dude, that California green is fun and all but a break once in the while is ok, too.

Man, summer can't come quick enough. i'm starting to get cranky; not being a dick but it's spelled axle.

That Ford 5.4 is a gutless piece of chit. Not only do they have phaser issues, but good luck getting the sparkplugs out in one piece. They are a 2 piece design that will seize and leave the jacket in the cylinder head. No fun, I have dealt with several of them. I have also seen some thrust bearing issues with these motors also. I'm not a fan at all.

I have seen a couple valve spring issues with the 5.7 Hemi, but otherwise it is a pretty decent motor. Not a fan of the Dodge interior at all, but they really aren't bad trucks overall.

Had an 05 and an 07 F150 both w/ 5.4L. Both engines had problems and they were terrible on fuel. Now have 2 F150's w/ the newer 5.0L and they are nearly 50% better on fuel, have way more power and zero problems so far and both are close to 100k at this time. Might might to look at something a little bit newer if going Ford.

Given those two, go with the Dodge. Between those two the Dodge will tow a bit better. Albeit I have a buddy who tows his 37AT with a 5.4L in a F-250 SuperDuty.

I had a 2004 Hemi ram 1500. It was absolutely the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. I bought it new. I racked up 170k miles on it. I beat the snot out of it. Drag racing, overloading, towing, you name it. I would tow a 8,000lb trailer through the hills, 5000rpm for miles. Never skipped a beat. I changed the oil and brake pads. That was it. Never touched ANYTHING else.
