I come from fourty years of off-road and offshore racing. I also watched and studied all motor sports racing since the early seventies. The crew fights in the pits. Picking out what team you wanted to beat on the track. The staying up all night building and waiting for parts. Throwing my helmet at my competition as he came around for another lap after he touched front wheels with me into a 90 mph turn which is like a death wish in open wheel racing. NASCAR in the seventies. The team rivals as exciting as the races. The offshore brand competition was exciting. Another boat could be twenty miles an hour faster then you and they miss the turn boat and you pass. Blown equipment. Wow, got off the subject. Anyway then there is now. Roundy de Round racing with a smile. Putting the letter L on your boat, borrowing a life Line and Helmet and kicking the wife, dog and windshield off the boat. Racing a couple thousand or a couple of million. The characters of early motorsports racing. Passing the physical race morning if they could find a broom stick and swimming pool. Vodka floats good. Share your stories and opinions.

I'll start things off in between coats of primer on my drives. As GLOPRA members would probably agree with. The wildest Racers probably came from Eastlake Ohio. I would have to speek for myself, the best action came the night before race day.

Racing your first baja 1000, doing the end section when you preran san felipe, doing it at nite, 75 miles from the finish and your crew chief tells you "back it down, your 75 out and you have over a 4 hour lead on 2nd place, the only one that can beat you is you." Makes for a nice 75 mile cruise, but you hear every single rattle and squeak and feel every vibration like the wheels are going to fall off at any time........

Rob you ran a Baja 1000? That's sweet. Old school stadium racing was sweet. This new stuff is not even close to real trucks. Great movie I have at home.
