Default Verados and DTS

Do Verados have to use DTS shifters? I see Verado boats rigged with standard dual lever controls. But, the Merc guy at the boats show last weekend told me that you cannot use a standard shifter?

By standard do you mean cable vs. digital (drive by wire)? Yes, you can have the standard shifter as in separate shifter/throttles but they are DTS with no cables.

340 Nor-Tech with 300 V-Rods and "standard" shifters.

DTS scares the hell out of me reliability and safety wise... Seriously go to any used car lot and try fo find anything over a couple years old that doesnt have some kind of electrical problem, clock that doesnt work, funky power window, glitchy key fob, malfunctioning gauge etc... and the marine environment is harsher

I have had run my 300 Verado's for 8 seasons now. And have had no DTS issues. Best outboards I have owned in 30+ years. Next pair will be Varado's for sure.

Look up Livorsi controls... the DTS appear the same as the cable controls but they are definitely DTS

Thanks, I get it now. Even though those shifters have the look of a regular old cable shifter, they are not.
