Haven't been on here in a while but have come to a crossroads with my 700HP 1999 25 Outlaw
. It has an Imco Neutral extension box and an Imco Extreme SC outdrive with a 2" shorty. The transom is hollow and wasn't put together well back in 1999 at the factory. They didn't fiberlass the upper and lower halves of the boat together and weren't sealed properly and has been taking water in since. Gotta love mass production at factories.
Anyway I have the boat in Upper Sandusky getting ready to have the boat derigged, gutted and having it replaced and done right this time. I believe my propshaft height originally was 7-1/2-7-3/4" from the bottom of the pad to the center of the propshaft. Both being level with one another. I believe mines is right at 5-1/4-5-1/2" right now with the 2" shorty. If I remember correctly they raised the X dimension on the 25 Outlaw in 2002/2003 from the factory? I'm gonna raise the engine in the boat, change the cutout on the transom for the drive and obviously raise the exhaust openings since I'm having it all redone anyway? I'm thinking I can get away with raising it 2 more inches as low as the extension box mounts on the transom and make a huge difference at 3-1'2" and still not blow out the prop getting on plane? It looks extremely deep still
Been talking to Stephen(Wildcard09) on his 25 Outlaw project years back with the 600SCI and he was at 3-1/2" and was hauling the mail with 100HP less than me
He told me he pushed it even more with a 2" shorty to 1-1/2" but made the boat useless. I would appreciate any feedback from those of you from the old school performance days or any of you that have/heard experience with X Dimensions on a 25 Outlaw.
Thanks, Scott

Its been awhile since I've measured mine but I think I was around 3 1/2" to the prop shaft. I felt the boat never was at its full potential with 650 HP...best ever was 77 GPS. I purchase 2-1/2" spacers and was going to try the prop shaft a touch lower, huts felt it would perform better. The engine is currently in getting put back together, should be ready in the spring for more testing.
