Anyone at the Miami Show look at the new Hardin Exhaust systems for the Mercury 525, 600, 700? Looks like may be a much more economical option for owners than the CMI replacements.

I had Mike send me some pics the other day. Their setup for the 525 is really cool. It allows you to keep your existing tailpipes, which is great for staggered setups. If you wanted to go with Stainless Marine, you would have to change the entire front tailpipes on a staggered setup. Hardin's riser will use the original clamp to attach to the existing tails. Pretty slick deal, I think. And, they will be under 2K a set.

I know the regular ones come out next month, not the hp model. Talked to Hardin and the regular ones can support up to I think 425-450 hp. They said an estimate of 70-90 days before the hp ones come on. I have a 88 454mag I think I might get the regular ones for. Pretty much stock except putting just a hair bigger cam in it. But I'll have to reuse the stock tails since I have a low exit thru hull and they don't have a low exit version yet.

I was talking to some people and with out changing valve springs and valves the one I was told to get was a 218/[email protected]. Not a very big jump from the stock 224/224 mag cam that's in there now. But I'm pretty much leaving the motor stock since the pistons, connecting rods and crank are forged stock since it's a mag. I have a bent valve already so I'm going to do a 3 angle valve job and that cam and hopefully the Hardin seaward regular exhaust.
