I need to buy motor plates for my staggered fountain and have a question about the universal system found on most of the newer Mercury blue power(700sci). It looked like there is a main plate that is the same regardless of what side it's on and then adaptor brackets depending on what side it's on? Is that correct? Any dis advantages to this over the old style plates?

yes,they go on either side,,only down side is they're pricey.cp perf may have a cheaper option for you.
that bracket may not fit all styles of wet sump oil pans.may need to find some w/ them to get some measurements.

What confuses me is that it only shows brackets for side by side not stag

look at the parts list for a 1075 and see if the p/n is the same.
alot of times the boat manufactures get the plates from KE/CP

I personally like the Engine mounts for the Cats.
They are in a lot of the V-bottoms now too.

Universal too, but the FWD & AFT plate have a nice flat bar on the bottom.
So if you pull and engine you can set it right on the ground, skid, back of your truck etc.

If memory serves me, these are the mounts Mercury Ships there engines on.
Then they were typically used in the Cats.

You may have to call the rigging shops, TNT etc. to get them.

With the shipping mounts do you just have another bracket that goes over to the channel?

I ordered a set of these for a single application and honestly I was less then impressed with their quality. They were 3/16" thick front and rear and just felt cheap compared to other Mercury mounts that I've seen/used in the past. I straight up gave them to my engine builder to use for his show motor because I didn't really trust them for what I was planning on doing. I have since bought the exteme billet mounts and they're pretty sweet. Not exactly umm cost effective but quality you couldn't beat. And they came with the stainless bushings ect.

The shipping mounts are also nice as mentioned above if you have a narrow stringer configuration.
