So here something that has confused me since I have owned this boat. About 3 1/2' from the transom Formula installed a fairly large overboard discharge vent in the hull. I'm guessing that its here so when running, it creates a vacuum, and sucks the waste out of the head. Either way, this can't be good and has to be scrubbing some speed out of the boat. I can do one of two things. I could remove the mushroom style vent and replace it with a flush vent thru-hull or I could just fill it in. Any opinions to this. Is this hurting performance?

It doesn't create a vacuum. That is the discharge port for the macerator. If you ever intend to discharge the porta-potty directly overboard, you'll need this to be functional, or find another place to dump it. Our Cigarette dumps it more central to the boat, but still from the running surface. Any loss of speed would be unmeasurable. Personally, I'd leave it be.

I know it's for the macerated- but I don't understand how it pumps out. Does the macerator pump? I just have a porta-poty style head that has a pump out and yes macerator. Unless there is something I don't know about I don't see how it goes from holding talk to discharge.

If your macerator/overboard waste discharge is functional, you are at risk of heavy fines if you are boarded and inspected.
