Default How to conect a trim pump to the Mercury 496 Ho

Hi,

On the engine there is a trim relay and i have bought the transom wiring .
At the transom wiring is the conector for the pump. But i dont know how to conect the trim switch.
Have someone a wiring diagram ? I own the diagnostic guide with the wiring diagram from the engie.
But there is no trim switch ......
My engine is without DTS sytem.

Do you have just the one sender on the gimbal ring and have smartcraft?

All stock Mercruiser are ECM 555 and PCM 555 are smartcraft compatible.

Agree just trying to find out if the OP has digital gauges or analog. If analog then there maybe an A to D converter

The OP never posted serial number of his engine so it can not be determine if he has the 10 pin Transom wiring harness to engine harness connector (posted above diagram ^^^) or the 16 pin transom wiring harness to engine harness connector inwhich is totally different than that. Again this is why engine serial numbers are so important to know how the systems are put together for the apps.

Hi,
sorry , i have the 10 pin transom connector.
Thanks alldoge for the wirig diagram. But my question is how to conect the pump and the trim Switch.
I can conect the trim sensor at the transom harness. But how it works with the pump and the trim Switch.
Will post the Serial no. later, but my engine is from 2003.
Thanks

Not an expert, just would up installing a HP transom assembly during my rebuild. The HP assembly uses the single digital limit/sender unit in one. The single unit mounts on the starboard side and has ewires coming from it (item 25)

For me to use the unit with my analog setup I had to buy a digital to analog converter. The trim up/down works but there is no limit for me, and the gauge doesn't work correctly. So I'm still working on the issue.

If you have a full digital setup then it should plug into the harness with the 3 prong connector.

If you have an analog pump and use sender/limit separate senders (one on each side) then you should have the traditional setup
