Seems lots of people have this on their list.
If you are considering doing it check out the Kissimmee Boat a Cade. They are going from Homestead, Fl to Key West and Back this June. This is a great way to learn boating in S. Fl. and the Keys. they arrange the docks, Hotel access (if desired), fuel stops, go over the routes, daily route planning, provide navigation, lead the way. Basically provide a guided trip with extensive local knowledge to share. They travel "caravan" style inside and outside. ALL FREE!
This year stops are Homestead (Capt. meeting), Key Largo, Key West. Back to Marathon (diff. marina), Largo (Banquet night) Homestead. 9-10 day total.
This is a great way to learn the basics of the keys with the security of a group. The people are great, all boats welcome.
I have done 3 of these many years ago with friends and all were a blast.
Just bring boating stuff, good attitude and money. (Not affiliated). Their website is a disaster, brochure will be posted in a couple of weeks.
Just wanted to share if anybody was interested.

The itinerary/registration is now posted on their site. This is a great trip and lots of fun. My formula for fun on these has always been, Daytime=Follow the leaders, Nighttime=Lead the followers.
