I actually have very little knowledge about velocity boats. I am looking at a 1997 32 with stock 454 power. I have tried to do some research but I figured there is as much knowledge right here as anywhere. I have owned cats mostly and the last V bottom I had was a 33 Powerplay. I have read that the 32 are ass heavy and unbalanced but my 33 seemed perfect to me. Is there really that much difference? I also read that the pad bottom on the velocity made it a drivers boat which I miss coming out of the cat. Sounds like it may remind me of all the fun I had drag racing my Allison. Will the Velocity handle well with bigger power? No way I can live long with stock power lol. Anyhow any information or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have a 32' Velocity and have always thought it was well balanced and not ass heavy for a 30 hull with twin BB. Very efficient and fast hull that does like driver input, fun boat that should run 70+ with stock 454's. What boat are you looking at, someone in the Velocity family here may know it.
Mine is a 2003 with fresh HP465's, new upholstery last year, hydraulic steering, full Livorsi guages, bla bla bla will be listed shortly.

If you raced an Allison you'll be fine in a Velocity. I've got an older 30, and it's basically a big Allison, but easier to drive. The 32's are a little different as they were cut down 41's. The pad is narrower than what is on mine.
Mine is a town big block boat and it flies fairly straight. Unless you're trimmed to the moon it's fine.
Did you have an XR2001? I've got a GS.

I had a '98 320 with stock power and then moved up to 500 HP. Yes it is balanced like any 30' hull with BB power so you'll need to be mindful of your tabs. The boat is more sensitive to tab placement than trim. The Stepp's told me that the 320 was the most challenging hull to drive and having been lucky enough to have been in most of the Velocity models over the years I agree. You'll need to watch the sea conditions and adjust tab and trim accordingly to keep it level. That said, in my opinion it's the most efficient/fastest hull foot for foot Velocity made and it carves turns great. I really enjoyed "driving" the 320! Now to answer your question about bigger power, I wouldn't recommend over 500 HP. If you want to run in the 90's the original 30' hull or 322 remake handle that speed much better.

Over the years I had 2 XB 2002 bass racers but my fastest boat was a light XR 2002 but it was also the easiest to drive. I really miss the driver aspect of the boat but now with the family always going we had to move up to something that is favorable in all conditions.

Im still trying to put this all together... As far as the 32 velocity there is a " 30 - 32 - 320 - and 322 ? Is that correct? What are the differences and years? I definitely am interested in running past the 90 mark Why do you not recommend over 500hp? I thought there were a good number of Velocity in the 100 mph range . All my cats were 110 plus and like all of us I am a speed nut. I like the lines of the Velocity and from what I have been reading the seem to offer good room as well for the family. I boat on a big inland lake so for the most part big water here is 3'. Its just washing machine slop from all directions. So there is no real issue with seas. Thank you for you guys input! I appreciate it
