I misplaced the rear bolts and nuts that mount the trans to the rear transom assm. Left shop before checking with calipers and measuring for length. Any ideas what size these are? If I had to guess I'd say 7/16 or 1/2 by 4 1/2 fine thread.

WTF???? Never seen a MercTrans that bolted to the transom assembly. MercTrans tail stock slides into the transom assembly then you tighten the retainer on the end of it which expands the doughnut. 1/4 inch fine thread studs with locking nuts. Sounds like your talking about a Borg-Warner.

Omg your right. I've had my engines with trans mounted covered with sheets and was finishing bilge rigging and cleaning the other day I made note I needed those bolts. (Thought anyway). I've been stumbling over Borg warners in the shop all winter and with out even checking my merctrans I just assumed they had same tail stock on the trans assm.
