I ran Mobil 1 15w-50 in my 525SC. It had almost 500hrs on the bottom end when I sold the boat. No issues and used a qt every 25hrs.

New motor and builder said to use 20w50 Castrol with WIX racing filter (don't remember the number). Next time I change may go to something else, maybe synthetic.

Woops, never mind no blower here

Best response. Especially with blower motors. I had chiefs originally in the Top Gun. I asked Tommy what oil I should run. He said conventional Valvoline 20/50. It has good zinc properties. and the most important thing is change it every 15 hrs and monitor the level.

Since then, I have always run Valvoline, they came out with the VR1 race oil since then in conventional, I run that now because it has even more zinc. I don't have blower motors so I go 20-25 hours. Usually, half way through the summer I change it, and change it before I put it away.

Blower Motors oil should be changed frequently because you are forcing fuel with pressure down the cylinder walls more and it dilutes the oil. Gasoline thinned oil on high RPM engines are not good on parts.
