Bought my new to me 33 Scarab avs in August, although interior looked sporty it really was NOT comfortable and even though boat had low hours it had 100's pf hours parked on beach at Havasu so interior was broke down. The Pods on engine hatch looked cool but were just another thing to trip over and bust your ass when mooring, power bolsters had alot of slop in them, were so close to dash my knees were wedged on the trim and base was only 13-14" wide wedging my hips into the seats. Engine hatch being fairly small made you a contortionist trying to get to back of motors also. Foam in back seat broke down t where is still looked good but I could push down to bottom panel with one finger aside from the fact it was ridiculously narrow with huge armrest with drinkholders.
Took boat to local interior guy I have worked with in past, we made a game plan, being I hated the narrow power bolsters I made decision to sell them and have new ones built with mechanical bases, gutted out all the interior, cut engine hatch in half also, converting it to open like a 35 foot fountain, bought billet hinges to go on the sides with quickpins also. The new front seats will have grab bars on back and drink holders built into the back, widened rear seat by reducing the side arm rest to a couple inches wide . Using all carbon fiber vinyl and putting Scarab racing on each engine hatch half parallel to sides pf the boat. Will post pics as I make progress, Smitty
