I'll be replacing both batteries in my '02 Heat. Boat is not nearby, so can't do a visual confirmation on what size these batteries are, and I'd prefer to buy them here in ATX and have them on-hand in my possession when I get to LOTO.
Did a search in here, and I read that some are using group 29's, some say group 24's (??). Advice please. What size battery for the 28 Heat? Optimal cold cranking amps info would also be much appreciated -- for a stock 496 HO.
Gracias.

Steve Z mentioned this in a post a couple of years ago...
"For our boats with the max group 24 size battery trays..."
So the battery area under the rear bench accommodates group 24's (as the largest that can fit back there?).

I had 2 group 24's in my Rage when I bought it with the same motor as you. I still have the same 24 serving as a starter battery but changed #2 to an optima, same size for the stereo. I suppose you could go larger but it would be tight under the seat if that is where yours are stored and I don't think it would be necessary.

I was able to fit two Odyssey PC1800-FT in mine. Was a bit concerned when I installed the lower blower pulley on the crank but it still cleared by about a 1/2". Love those batteries. Never need to worry about dead batteries.

i did 2 trojan AGM group 24s in mine. Great reserve capacity and last plenty long w/ my 1600w alpine PDS digital amps. make sure you wire everything to the common on your battery switch. then you're truly isolated when the boat's not running and you've got it switched to batt 1 or batt 2 playing the stereo.
