Default Mounting an Aluminum Swim Platform

Hello all,

I have just purchased an aluminum swim platform for my Checkmate Convincor, does anybody know if this gets mounted directly to the transom of the boat or should I be putting something between the aluminum swim platform and the transom?
Thanks!

Mounted one years ago and just Premarked/drilled holes and dabbed couple coats resin in holes and used 4200 btwn mounting brackets and transom. Trimmed off access 4200 as it was hardening. If you have a tendency to get big air I'd for sure through bolt.

I dunno. Why are people standing on the platform while he is jumping waves? Actually, i would thru bolt platform under any circumstances. A 100 lb spinner standing on the back edge of the platform is creating a lot of force on the top bolts.

Yup, already have holes from the old fiberglass platform, just have to drill two new holes for the side supports of the new deck. I will put resin in all of the holes and use 4200 between the aluminum and the boat, great idea.

I like to put down tape first before I drill, it keeps the gelcoat from crackling and lifting when I drill. Use the correct size drill bit so everything is tight.....nobody wants a sloppy hole.....lol

Great info on mounting. I further prevent getcoat cracking/lifting, reverse the drill for the first attempt at getting thru the gelcoat layer. Use nice sticky duct tape and press well in place.

Also use round washers 2 inch diameter. I've seen lots of people use square washers, that's puts stress on the 4 corners of the washer.
