Old 24 Pantera. Putting together a 450-500 hp 454 for it. It is a rare well preserved beast that doesn't need stringers or a transom. I have 2 Merctrans trannys for it. So it will probably hold up a while, but if something like a 3a thru 6 would fit the TRS cutout, at least with minimal filling, it might be something to spend the winter shopping for. I know. Konrad.

Curious what the issue is? If you are worried about the tranny replace it with a BW and move the engine forward a bit. The TRS I believe would be the least of your worries. The torque on the 454 isn't going to be that much. On my 600HP 454's the peak torque was only 564@5200RPM.
