Default Refinishing Dash - HydroDip an option?

I am looking to change the stock finish of my 35Zr dash - right now its a "bare aluminum" look but the layout is perfectly fine. Has anyone used HydroDip or other finishes to simply cover the existing dash? I like the fact that it can be easily changed in the future without wasting money on a completely new dash finish. The hydrodip guy I spoke with said that flat surfaces are ideal - my only concern is sunfade and wear?

Ive been looking into this as well for some pieces in my truck....it basically comes down to what kind of quality clear coat they are using...if its UV stable then you should have no problems unless you use something trying to clean it that may attack the clear...
