My heat trailer is in fair shape but definitely is slowly rotting out before it gets to bad i would like to sell it and pick up an aluminum trialer. That being said was wondering what everyone is using 2 or 3 axle etc. what brands and any pics thanks

I don't have much to say about brands and such, but I do on axles. When I sold my heat, I drove it to Amarillo, about an 8 hour drive from here. It tracked beautifully, backed up and behaved predictably. On the way back, empty hitch, picked up a car trailer and a car, two axles. I hated it. I have plenty of experience on both, but I truly prefer the stability of 3 axles. And since everything in Texas requires highway driving, I will always get 3. And when I buy my next boat, I would love a gooseneck
good luck on the hunt!

Thanks Jay im leaning towards another triple i do like the way the nordic trailer loads im a little worried about an aftermarket trailer having the same loading characteristics so hopefully someone has a heat on here with an aluminum trailer they can recommend!

I am sure any reputable boat trailer builder can reproduce the trailer, but with aluminum beams versus steel tube. Also, EOH... do it!!! The surge works fine for me, but I have an exhaustive brake and my truck was heavier than my boat on most days. But starting from scratch, EOH all the way.

I'm the opposite of Jay, no triples for me, in my area it's all twisty curvy roads and tight small ramps that require sharp hard turns. With my Nordic triple it really put stress on the sidewalls...not to mention the Nordic trailer was SH!T for my area, salt water. Lasted 2 years and I fussed over it like crazy. My PowerPlay had a South Florida Trailer with 2 per side, worked better for my area.
I think you're smart getting aluminum, it opens the market to us salt water folks upon resale. You'll have to weight torsion vs springs too, both have their benefits and drawbacks.

I too prefer triple axles because they tow so nice. 75mph straight as an arrow. I'm in the same boat, I have a really nice steel trailer down here in Miami and its slowly rotting away. I'll be getting an aluminum trailer in the next few years so I've done a bunch of research myself. If you want it to load easy and straight like your trailer does now, it needs to have a custom made cradle bunk system, not the typical 4x8 square bunks that just sit under the chines like most aluminum trailers have. Also, the custom bunks will help the boat sit lower on the trailer, so launching it is easy as the truck doesn't have to go in the water.
I'm looking at Ameritrail for mine, triple axle, fully welded, and powder coated so it looks nice, instead of the typical chalky aluminum look. Not sure where you're located, but theres many good aluminum trailer builders around the country.

All American in Pompano Beach built mine. Willie is a service oriented and honest guy. I'm a fan of aluminum with torsion axles. I like the tandem axle set up as opposed to triple because I find it easier to get in and out of tight places. Go with torsion axles for sure and four wheel disc.

Amazing how geography plays in to choosing a trailer setup.
