Default Steering wheel play is getting worse

O.K. Last year when I supercharged my boat I added external single ram hydralic steering to have better control. It works fine but now with all the extra motivation etc. the steering play has gotten worse. It is the factory cable system Baja uses.

Question is do I replace the existing cable system with a new one (most cost effective) or do I spend another $1500 or so and go full hydraulic? Does a full hydraulic still use the factory power steering pump on the motor? Does anyone know someone selling a helm setup?

Guys I need some insight on how a full hydraulic system works etc.

Thanks

Bigwavz;

In a month or so when I take my boat home, ( '99 259 Checkmate )I will be upgrading to full hydraulic steering from Imco. I can cut you a real good deal on my stock helm, cables and control valve, if interested.

To answer your question on full hydraulic, you can still use your stock power steering pump.

Default I did a conversion last winter

I did a conversion last winter from my external hydralic and internal cable system to a full hydrolic system. I think it cost about $350. You need a Charlyn helm, High pressure filter, hydralic lines, and a steering colum. It is way easier than replacing the cable, steering arm, and gimbal. You will also be much happier with the hydralic steering.
