Default Fairings

Does anyone know who makes fairings or has anyone covered their own winsheild with panals, or what options are there to make it into a fairing being that the existing winsheild isn't tall enough to see out of anyway?....Fred

Fred,
I took my windshield glass panel to a local plastics shop and had new ones made out of plexi orlexan (don't quite know which) and it worked out pretty good, better than spending the money to make an aluminum one.
I think there are some pictures in the gallery of my boat.

There are some pics on page 5 of readers rides

Fred Glass Enterprise here in Holland could build you a new one...I bought some lexan from them to extend mine for $22 ...they also did a beautiful 40 hustler last summer.

26Scarab, that would be easy to do to mine as the winsheild is flat....how thick is the lexan that they used on yours? It looks good.

Dyno, do they make complete fairings?....I think one would look good on mine don't you think....can't see out of the short winsheild anyway....Fred

Dyno, I called them and they have all types of materials to make the blank windows out of, yes I would have to powder-coat or paint the framework, Thanks for the info.....don't know what I'll do next weekend yet....been a bit nuts at work lately trying to get some hot jobs off the floor so Saturdays have been 8 hours of work and weekdays have been 12...doesn't leave me much free time and what I get of it I don't get much done....a bit burned out...but it will be done soon and everything will be back to normal...I think....Fred

Unhappy

I am also needing a faring for my Chris Craft Excalibur. I checked with a local aluminum fabrication company and they were going to charge $1000. I also checked with a local plexi company and they didn't want to even do the job, they said it would not hold up being so large and being on a boat. I have thought about powdercoating the windsheild frame and then putting in new plexi inserts, but I think it might look a little cheezy. Hell, if someone went into the custom faring biz, they would make a killing!! It seems many of us are in the same predicament!!

SOMEONE HELP US OUT!!!
