RockAuto.com Update: no more marine parts
#1
It's been talked about before on here, and I've sent quite a few people over to their site as they had a fantastic cross reference tool for aligning proper auto/truck parts for marine applications when safe and appropriate.
It's all gone.
They have left the marine parts industry.
Sucks, as their pricing was FANTASTIC compared to the usual suspects.

Brian, That is correct. One of the reasons sales on the marine side was not that strong but another reason some of the parts did not work as a reliable cross to the marine side. I even talked about it up here as well last year or the year before.
Just one example, the Rock Auto listing for the camshaft sensor - Volvo Penta's including the 496 did not work in those apps. There was never any testing to see if all their parts were a true cross to perform like they should. Some worked but some did not. Like I said I posted this before up here.

I never found that place to be all that cheap when it came to parts, by the time you pay shipping and wait, and wait, and wait, you might as well run down the napa and buy the parts, I have been in a pinch before and paid for next day shipping(work related) only to find out it can take them up to 2 days to "ship" the package, so my next day air took 3 days to get here
Heck Amazon has just as good as prices and with Prime I have it in two days.
They could have a heck of a business if they could get in good with One shipping company and ship things faster, also to ship one brake rotor shouldn't cost more then the brake rotor!!!!

I've had EXTREMELY good luck with RockAuto.com. They get parts to me sometimes in less than 24 hours with no special shipping; just standard whatever. I think this has to do with location. Hence was the reason why I was bummed to learn of their exit in marine stuff.

I have gone as far as buying it from both a big box store and RA then when RA final shows up I return it to big box store, its always been the same brand of part so I don't feel that bad, and I usally only do it when I'm in a bind and had already order it, these days my time is to valuable and I just run to the big box store.
