so i bought the race boat listed in the swap shop (class 5 or 6 boat ) from steve at modern marine, if you ever have an opportunity to do business with or just to meet and talk boats you won't be disappointed,
he's a solid guy, i wouldn't hesitate to do business w/ him again in a heart beat.
we struck a deal on may 10th he worked with me, and on the 25th or 26th of this month i'll be picking the boat up.
the sell is an obvious big deal for both of us. he built the boat and raced it back in 96.
the build is some thing to see, the hull and deck are layed up in 1708 and 1808.
the engine room stringers are 2 inches thick and laminated together in the same manner you build a transom.
the stringers forward of the engine room are single layer 3/4 and 4 race bulkheads up in the cabin are baltek.
front to back on all 4 stringers on both sides, and all the way around the bulkheads on both sides are bedded in w/ baltek fillets.
the tabbing is straight and evenly overlapped there are no loose strands of material w/ globs of resin or puddles of resin anywhere in the boat, clearly a lot of attention to detail during the layup.
all of the rigging in the engine room wires, hoses, hydraulics, all neat and clean, cushion clamps evenly spaced, it's the same under the dash.
the bolsters are cool as hell, the 3 center sections slide up and down depending on how tall you are, and after 20 years no rips or loose threads.
on the outside, you can't see where the bulkheads are at, shes straight, every screw ( i looked ) around the rubrail is pointing the same way. the hull and deck are bonded together and i just remembered the strakes are solid and you can't see them when your crawling around on the inside of the boat.
after 20 years there was some oxidation but steve started buffing it out and sending me pictures, so when i went up on the 10th
the area that he buffed look like new, not nice not pretty damn good, like new !
so there's a cover where the back seat would be and underneath that cover and underneath the bolsters is bare so some sprucing up is in order for my intended use, but it is clean.
if it was to go back as a race boat, i think an engine, drive new decals and some gas would be about all it would need.
it has a full cover that extends down to the chine all the way around, and i just picked up a spare that matches the aluminum mags on the trailer.
i'm as excited as a kid on christmas morning waiting to hear mom and dad waking up so i can shove my brother out of the way and be first downstairs.
the only bad news is i have to wait till the broker moves the sundancer so i can get the engine built and get this one back in the water

i'll work it out getting pictures up, i think it's the settings on my camera that goes back to default everytime i take the battery out and put it away.
it's too bad the video of it racing isn't on the you tube
