Default Single Engine with no power? Whats out there?

Well, after some issues with my boat this year. It's got me thinking about upgrading. What is available out there, that's solid in the 24-29ft range? -- single engine. Not interested in twins for a variety of reasons. Having the drive would be nice, but not required.

I have mild 502 to use as needed, I'm not opposed to it already having power if the price is right. I am not looking for a rotted out boat that needs a ton a of work, but am willing to do some work for sure.

Everything I can find is garbage...

Not looking to spend more than about 10-15k, so I know that limits the market, and maybe why I can only find garbage. Or maybe I'm looking to new. I'm open to older boats I suppose.

Seems like slim pickin's this time of yr. Less than 600 boats for sale here on OSO. I've seen that well over 1000 before. There was a 24 Pantera on here a few weeks ago. Looked pretty rough though, ex race boat.

I can't help thinking about a Formula 242, but it's like freaking rolling the dice with rot on the older ones. You can pick those up all day long for less than 15k in "good" shape....

Saw this on CL and sent it to a friend with a 540, but he hates red... Might not be a bad deal if the hull is solid.

Interesting, I've never heard of it before, but looks fairly nice actually.

Wonder if that drive would live with 550hp in front of it....or if it a similar pattern to a bravo....

I'm guessing it depends on whether that's a pre-1990 or post-1990 drive. Just guessing by looking at the valve covers on that motor, I'm thinking it's post-1990 if the drive and engine came as a combo.

Edit- GM went to center bolt valve covers in 1987, my memory had me convinced it was later, so that drive could be either version.

As for the hull, I had the center console version, it's basically a Pantera/P&D splash, formerly made buy a guy in Miami. It's no Pantera, but you're not paying a Pantera price, either. Glass work was ok, some of them have some hook in the hull, and a few have happy chines. Ya know, chines that kinda wave as you walk down the boat.

The Red boat in the ad has a Volvo Penta drive not an OMC Cobra.

It's definitely a VP drive. I know OMC all to well. This drive I know zero about and have no desire to learn to be honest, I would yank it and replace if the transom holes are similar.

Oops, read the ad and looked at the motor pic, skipped right over the drive photo. I'm an idiot. Pardon my fast thumbs and slow mind. As you were, gentlemen.
