Default '93 Larson Senza power question

Hi everyone, I'm back! New boating season means new or reignited boat mod ideas! After our second boating trip last July, we had abnormal water in the bilge under the motor, leading up over from the previous season..... Turns out the exhaust going out the drive was missing one bolt and the other 3 were loose ready to fall off..... New gimbal bearings, shift cables, bellows, etc and $1,500 including tax later, no water! The new trim sending units aren't registering, just like the old ones, so it's going back, and the tachometer is broke as well.....
Anyways, I got the 350 mag 5.7 260hp with side exit exhaust, so probably it puts out like 275hp..... What's an expenses mod to get a little more sauce of the bottle and come alive, while keeping the Alpha 1 gen 2? How much can the Alpha 1 really take? I know factory says 300hp, but what's the most that you've seen or heard, while staying reliable?
I don't have $30,000 to go spend on a 27' Fountain Fever with even a 496ho or something and bravo 1....... Unfortunately, I know my Larson is obviously not worth a whole lot, it's a great beginner boat in great shape......
On another note, anyone know why I heard an alarm going off? Loud beep? I read somewhere about Apa 1 lube low warning? Engine was "showing" good temps around 140F...... I don't what it could be, I'll ask the mechanic tomorrow anyway.

I like your style MINK! That's the modest, safe, and smart approach! In my heart I want a Fountain Fever 27', it's perfect for me...... I'd take a 29' in a heartbeat for the right money. I just can't go and get one, and I really want to be smart not jump into such a monstrous boat - I want more years of boating under my belt. After going on my uncle's 29' Fever with a 575SCI running 5lbs of boost Saturday, it's quite exhilarating and makes a young heart have big dreams....... I'm thinking 3 years and I'll have enough money to take a chance and pull the trigger on a modest Fever that was fresh water used and clean, for around $30k. I'd love it.....

If you are already thinking of a different boat I would just get everything in working order and enjoy it the way it is.
