What colour is the wire to the sender ?

Is it on your 07 Fountain? I didn't realize they came with oil temps gauges. Do a quick Google search on or otherwise here on oso there are several threads regarding mercruiser color coding.

if i remember correctly it is brown with white stripe.

Brown w/white stripe, I thought that was the warning buzzer for water temp, oil pressure, low drive reservoir.

What did you find out?
