I just bought a 1995 Baja 272 bow rider with a hp 500 ,few upgrades like cmi headers, 741 crane cam when the motor was refreshed a couple years ago , spins a 25 plus at 5100 at around 70 mph , handles good, just wondering how much power I need to make this boat go in the 85 mph range .... hp 500 with p1sc procharger or a 548 cid at 700hp... or more and how much more?

Not sure what you meant about 33's ego but hes had the same boat and (not speaking for him) I believe his point was 272's aren't speed demons and really develop bad manners at speeds over 80. Good Luck.

thanks hook`em ,I`m really just looking for constructive comments , I`m sure I`m not the first guy that`s looking to get more speed out of a Baja .... as for a faster boat I already have one , 07 290 velocity 632/846 hp

Its not all HP..... Need to get the hook removed and hull blueprinted also.
Hyd Steering 100% true. We put over 700 hours on our 272 and several upgrades. Great boat, again, just not engineered to run that fast.
The open bow will hurt you as well.
