Default How do I remove oil stains off gelcoat on hull

I do not know if this is the right place to post this, but recently I towed my 38' boat about 200 miles on vacation. My diesel truck lost a seal on the motor and sprayed out roughly a gallon of oil before I knew it even happened. The whole left side of the boat caught a lot of the spray, and it seams to have absorbed into the gelcoat. I was able to get the liquid oil off but it left the oil spots (100's of them).I have tried soap, toilet bowl cleaner, and on/off and it will not pull out the blackish oily stains. Can anyone give me any pointers on what or how to clean this mess up.
Thank you for any help you can give.

I tried bleche-wite, a cheap tire wheel cleaner, but didn't work. But I will get an mag wheel aluminum brighter tomorrow and see if it works, thanks!

I would try Acetone - you have an "organic" on the hull and you will need something that dissolve it. I would try a VERY SMALL spot first to make sure you don't screw up the gel coat (if the boat is painted- DON'T USE IT - ACETONE WILL TAKE THE PAINT OFF). Also NO SMOKING when using acetone -- Very flammable!

let us know what worked the best.

Wash it down with a diesel soaked rag. Then dish washing soap to get the diesel off. It will break it right down

First thing I would try is Simple Green.

Non of the acid stuff does anything for oil/grease.

Or Dawn dish washing soap.

Either way, a good brush to scrub.
