Default Rinda Scanner Adapter Won't Fit 525 Diagnostic Conn.

I ordered the brand new Rinda TechMate Pro Scanner and adapter 94006. This is what they said to use on a 525 with PCM-555. This is also the adapter that the manual says to use. Problem is that the tool adapter plug and engine diagnostic plug are identical. Both are identical 4 prong male connectors so obviously they will not go together. What's going on? Engine is '07 vintage 525. Do I have the 555 PCM?

I suspect that somehow you got a pigtail with the wrong connector installed. Have you talked to Rinda?

No. Wanted to run it by this board first. I will call.

94006 is the correct adapter for the Stock PCM 555 HP 525

Possible you do not have the engine side DLC located correctly to plug your adapter into - meaning you are trying to plug into a NON DLC connector. Post pics up here of your Rinda adapter - top pics & INSIDE & pics - side pics and I will let you know if it is the correct adapter for the HP 525 DLC

DLC = data link connector - for the proper connection to scan the engine. FYI

Is there anywhere else to get the cord & adapter plug for PCM 555?

I have the software and melted my cord. Wanted to buy another one but Rinda thinks these things are apparently plated with platinum and manufatured by Marylin Monroe.

Nope ^^^^^ for above

Also FYI the DLC on some apps can have something else plug into it and even hard to find as it can be tucked away. One example - I have had boats that the DLC had a Airmar transducer plugged into it and was tucked under the the gear lube reservoir then tied wrapped,

You have to unplug the transducer connector. then connect your scan adapter into. Not uncommon Just saying.

The guy I talked to at Rinda was no help. He didn't even want to listen to me. Told me to call Mercury. Here is a pic of tool connector and boat connector with protective plug removed and location of engine connector (port side right next to ECM). Both connectors are identical male connectors. Maybe this isn't the diagnostic connector? Tool connector is marked 94006.

Pics above^^^. The Rinda guy did mention that there might be something plugged into it. If pics 2 and 3 above are not the diagnostic connector then I will do some further searching. Gotta leave for a few hours now though. Appreciate the help.

I believe the connector you are looking for is on the inside of the plate the throttle cable mounts too.

Rut row - Houston we have a problem - operator is trying to plug tech mate pro adapter for the PCM 555 DLC into the CAN bus power disconnect. Not going to work there. (Pic where your index finger is pointing) and above that is the CAN bus 10 pin connector - not there either. FYI for whomever

Like CIM said in that area roughly and possible the depth transducer could be plugged into it.
