Default 22zx hour meter

Hello I'm looking to purchase my first boat. 2003 22zx. I have a concern with it not having an hour meter. Was there one supposed to be installed from the factory?
Thanks.

Also, any idea what a decent mooring cover with the snaps costs?

Plug into the Engine with a reader tool and get all the information you could ever want - If you do not own one, pay a technician to ride shotgun with you at the checkout.
I purchased a boat with 425hrs on Merc 496's....everybody was like "OMFG 400+ hours...jesus have the top ends been rebuilt?".....So I pulled a report from the scan tool.....yeah 240+hrs of it was less than 2500rpm. I do some research and find out the previous owner lived on a private lake with restricted speeds - hour meters only give you TOTALS...a scan tool will give you true information that you can use to dictate an offer.

I had a cover made for my 22zx a year or so ago..cost me $500. In hindsight a nice full cover could have done the same job at less than half the cost.
