Bracket racing led to surprising reversals of fortune during yesterday's Offshore Powerboat Association race, http://speedonthewater.com/in-the-ne...-clair-classic.

It's summer, Matt and Jason (and this Mike Y. dude) are busy bringing all the latest boating news to the readership. Stop back in 3 months, we'll be back to oil threads, arguing about wave heights and outboards, and discussing the attributes of Fountain skanks.

But with five stories today—yeah, this particular Monday was a busy one. Event coverage definitely contributes to that on Mondays. Sometimes (SBI races, for example) we are able to report "day of" and that's optimal. Day after is acceptable, as is Monday for events such as poker runs. Beyond that, the freshness date of any "event" story is expired.

St Clair is one of the toughest courses for bracket classes, the nine mph current makes it real tough to set up for. Best to run your own race while still keeping a close eye on everyone around you and anything can happen there and its all up in the air till the gps' s are in. I was up there for the weekend and had a great time

We had a fantastic time at the St. Clair River Classic and I was surprised to read about all the breakouts in the Bracket Class but thats racing. I want to thank the BWORA for putting this race on every year, 22 years now, all the Racers and Staff from OPA who bring their great event to this area every year, the Coast Gaurd, all Law Enforcement boats, all the Dive and Rescue boats. The City of St. Clair and their Business Association and all the Volunteer boats and many other volunteers that help make this race a success every year. Because of all of them I continue to come back year after year. Now on to Skater Fest then the Port Huron/Sarnia International Powerboat Race.
