Default Just found out my uncle did some work for "mercury racing"

My Cousin posted this of FB tonight... Who new....

Well, on the way to Applebee's tonight,we passed a triton 150 HP Mercury bass boat for sale. My dad said" I worked on a Mercury marine intake back in the 50s. I said why would mercury contact Chrysler Corporation to draw them up and design an intake for a boat? He said they did and it came from Wisconsin and he wasn't quite sure about the spelling of the word and the name of the person, but he said something that does sound like keycaper. I said was it Carl Kiekhaefer? He said yes. I asked him "do you know what you did "?he said no, I said you just drew up and helped in the designing of the intake for Mercury Marine sponsored Chrysler HEMI engines.I said no you did not draw a intake for a boat you drew up Tim Flocks Mercury Marine sponsored Chrysler C300 NASCAR racing engine that he won the NASCAR titles in 55 and 56. Wow!!! My dad said that it's all up in his diaries of what he did , I will have to check them out. The kids of today haven't got a clue on what their grandparents have done or any idea of what they have gone through to be where they are today!!!

Cool Story & you're right about "kids" not knowing about their parents and grandparents.

Every generation we lose more and more of that history.

A friend of mine lost his father last year and a few weeks later we were talking about his dad over a couple drinks

I remember him telling me "I knew dad served and was in the tail end of the Normandy invasion, but I had no idea he had been awarded multiple bronze stars".
