Looking at a cam change since my Bob Combo sucked... gonna maximize my parts if I do, has anyone ever ran 108 lsa cams? I have stainless marine exhaust dry to the transom, so nice slope with at least 2ft no water mix.. I don't see reversion happening, what have people done?

Any 540 with afr 325 PROVEN 700 hp combos? dyno sheet and specs top to bottom if so... I need to decide what I want to do this winter....not happy with results after 2 seasons of MK combo..

I see no reason to do that and risk reversion. You would prob need to have full dry exhaust.
Idle will suck and a cam around a 112 will have a flatter torque curve.

+118hp no other changes

Offshorexcursion has 108 LSA cams in his NA 572s. They idle very well, made great power too. 750-760hp at 6000 in full marine trim, great torque curve, etc.

Tim, modding the tails to full dry, would be easy. I personally would rather cam the engine for what it needs, rather than work around wet pipes.

I personally think the "lsa " subject in the marine world, is the most misunderstood area of cam discussions.

Bigger engines can tolerate and tame overlap much better than small engines idle wise. Ive been around a few big ci big blocks, that idled great woth tight lsa's. I have also seen them blamed , when in fact it was a poor carb setup, or poor ignition setup, causing a rough dirty idle, when the builder simply blamed the cams LSA.

not saying that I will not change other things, but I want to see what it REALLY takes to get 700 HP or very close, my combo was supposed to be that, very far off... I have 2 buddys making 620 hp with 509's!!!

I cannot addmuch to this thread, because I have not done so on a marine engine. We have to be fully wet here with mufflers.

In the other engine world (dry land) I have run cams with LSA from 102 up to 116. So, I have seen some trends, but again, not on the water.

Tim how do your motors idle now and what rpm do they idle at?

I ran 108 Lsa in my last 598. Sounded bad ass. And wasn't bad around docks. Made 750 770 tourque. Ran dry to the tip. Never an issue.

For the same cam wouldn't a 108 power curve be a little "peaky" and at a lower rpms than a 112?
