Default Desert Storm Poker Run Moved to First Weekend of May

The Desert Storm Poker Run organizers are moving the popular Arizona event from late April to early May. Anyone else concerned that it takes place the same time as the Tickfaw 200 Poker Run in Louisiana?

No bueno if it takes place same time as the tickfaw....bad planning for sure.

As someone that has been to neither I would pick the tickfaw over D.S to attend.

Another event it has recently in the last 4/5 years coincided with is Stagecoach country music deal. Looks like I am getting dragged into that...

Where are you going to be? If the event had live feed coverage Like Loto; I would be more interested in running in the shootout here. ( To me ), it just seems like no one out here cares about this stuff. All the surf contests are streamed here though . LOL

While overlapping event dates present a coverage challenge for any media outlet in which resources are limited, my completely subjective opinion is that there aren't too many people who participate in both Desert Storm and Tickfaw. At least I don't know that many, hence the use of "subjective."

As for the livestream coverage of professional surfing events, i watch them too! (Addicted, actually.) But there is a lot more money in and and behind the surfing industry than there is behind the go-fast powerboat industry. The livestream coverage from those events is frequent and top-notch because the sponsors spend a ton of money on it—and because companies such as Quicksilver, Roxy and so on have a ton of money to spend. By comparison, the go-past powerboat industry is tiny.

But we still love it.

Lol thanks for your expert opinion...

DS is a blast, the street party is an amazing spectacle of custom boats, and the event draws a huge spectator fleet. As they said, hardly anyone would need to choose between the two runs anyway.

DS is a fantastic street party and a 20 minute "poker run" set in a cool place.

Tickfaw is over 200 miles of great boating set in the sticks of Louisiana. All depends what you want from your event.
