Default Engine runs fine but will not idle, stalls under 1000 rpm

Procharged 502. Ran great for about a 1/2 hr ride, docked for about an hr or so. Started fine, shifted forward and reverse a few time to leave dock area then stalled. Once running it is fine, but under 1000 rpm it will stall. When running at 2000 rpm in nuetral then powering down it hesitates before rpm comes down and the same when giving it some throttle. Once in gear and up on plane it is fine. I have not had a chance to look at it yet. Just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.

Thanks

carb or efi?

if its carb, you might want to look for trash in the idle circuit. or a vacuum leak. i had the bog when i passed smoe trash through a filter and stopped the idle circuits up!

I had the same problem last year.....thought and went through a whole bunch of stuff with no luck......turned out to be a broken advance spring in the distributor! Go figure! Put new sping on and whala! just another thing for you to check!

yes, ignition advance...

If they are Merc distributors, though, then they have no advance in them. If MSD, etc.. then look at the spring..

Sounds like a clogged EGR valve

Seriously though... my first thought was a vacuum leak, but it could be countless things. Start with the basics.

If you have a Holley carb maybe you have a blown power valve. If so you will be excessively rich, his should be noticable.

If you are lean, your secondarys may not be closing completely.

What carb are you running?
