They state in the article asking MTI to raise the tunnel 2" to expel air at high speeds. Is that to prevent bow rise??

Looked up the record. Miami to NY 1998 Genty in 19 hrs and 17 Min. Don't know the miles but if its aprox 1200 miles that's an average speed of 63 MPH. That includes any stopping for fuel. How many gallons of fuel does a twin turbine burn per hour at 1/2 throttle? I got to believe this is well with in reach of 12-15 hrs at 80-90 MPH average. I love the idea of endurance runs !!!!!

The entire tunnel raises up, which effectively lowers the sponsons with the same air volume as a standard tunnel... Not as fast at 160, but the air volume increases with speed... So at 200+ you need to move more air through without too much lift..or control is lost...

Builders design boats for a speed target (if they don't, they should). Going outside that target may require changes to retain handling and safety...
You don't just feed a boat more power to go faster....

So the went 201mph the second time out with six people aboard.
Doesn't that sound a little reckless?

I believe you meant to say 1988 as Mr. Gentry had past by 1998.
