Default problems with fountain fever

Hi there, my brother just purchased a 1998 29 foot fountain fever. We took it out this weekend and for the life of me i cant figure out how to work the depth finder. Not sure if it is broken, as some of the gauges weren't working :/ So was hoping someone might know more than i do as this is our first fountain. Any help would be appreciated..

With a step hull chances are enough air is moving across the transducer that you're getting little or no depth reading.

Do a search on transducers here. Many approaches to try to have one work adequately. Search the fountain forum

The transducer should be mounted in front of the step so the transducer can read through water that has not been aerated by the step. This will be under the step into the cabin.

Had a '98 '29. Transducer is under the cabin step. Probably just came loose. clean the area and a little JB Weld, should be good to go.

Does it read properly when boat is at rest (in the water)?

mine works when the boat is stopped or just moving, once on plane it stops reading because the transducer sees air due to the areation step.that is the way it works.

It needs to be less then 5-10 mph to be accurate . Mine is mounted in the cabin step. Use a GPS for depths and while going slow use depth finder
