Default Corsair powerboat need some guidance

Hey guys bought my first boat which is a 1988 corsair 24ft with a big block 454 330hp engine with a bravo one outdrive. Any info on who helped design corsair and where too get parts for it? I'd also like too upgrade the 454 get some more power out of it. I have a set of old school oval port heads sitting on the shelf waiting too be put on something and thought about putting them on this motor of that would work. Thank you guys

Most boat parts aren't manufacturer specific like a car. Lights might be made by Atwood or Defender; controls and gauges might be Gaffrig or Livorsi, etc. For replacement engine and drive parts you will want to have the engine and drive serial numbers, and on the right side of your screen (web version), you'll see the OSO directory. BAM Marine has a pretty good site for replacement Mercruiser parts, I've had good experiences with Diamond Marine, and Teague has pretty good bling and goodies, too.

Thanks guys! And for quick response and I have that brochure already. Just wish there was more I could find out about it. It does have a mercruiser 454 but I want too upgrade it with a better top end kit but I also salt water cooled so really can't run aluminum heads and intake I heard.

Ok well if its a stock 330 Mercruiser its a 2 bolt main block, and has cast pistons in it. Search this forum and you will find a lot of info on that motor and what people have done do it. If you are expecting a speed demon out of this boat then that motor is not for you, The boat is heavy and probably a very comfortable ride. Good Luck with the boat just be smart on what you spend the money on. I Would start with inspecting the manidfolds and riser and make sure they are in good shape and change any belts and the water impellor.

Manifolds and risers need too be replaced and happening in a few weeks. I don't want too do 100 but the previous owner told me he had it doing 50 55 with a 23 mirage stainless prop. But the boat with the 23 and 21 pitch prop both top out at 40 just at different rpms 23 is 3900 and 21 is 4100. I feel like this boat should do mid 50s no problem and it doesn't. I wanted too just do a basic rebuild and have 400 450hp and it cruise at 35mph and do 60 tops but if more then that's good. I have a bravo one outdrive too.

I would expect that hull with that motor to be up around 50 or a bit more. Wondering if the motor is sick or if the hull is waterlogged (heavy).

Not sure what the coring they mention in the brochure actually is, and whether it can soak up water. But if the motor is healthy, I'd expect a lot more than 40mph unless the hull is carrying a ton of extra weight. Has anyone (surveyor?) shot the hull with a moisture meter?

Everything is dry. Boat had a couple of fishing rods and a small tool kit and about 10 gallons of fuel and I weigh 175 in the boat that's it. She topped out at 40 on gps

Did you trim the drive out after coming up on plane? Not trying to be funny , some first time boat owners don't realize that they need to trim out to get top speed and max rpm's. Pretty sure max rpm on those 330's was 4800 so you are not getting all its got for some reason.

First time having my own boat but my dad and grandfather are big boaters so I know the basics and more. So yes I brought the trim up once on plane and saw max 4200 with 21 pitch and 3900 with 23 pitch
