Planning to swap an engine in my 2000 crownline that was volvo v6 powered to a motor from a 96 mercruiser v8 setup. I know that the engine wiring harness plug is the same but are there differences in other parts of the harness other than the shift switch which can easily be bypassed. I'd like to just keep the merc harness if possible however I do have a complete volvo v8 donor engine /drive if necessary.

Ayuh,.... The Best way to go is to strip the Merc motor back to the Long Block configuration, then redress it with the Volvo accessories,....

Then everything will fit, 'n hook up properly,.....
