Any speed numbers with the 400's?

It has a kind of retro look (that I like) with the squared of windshield and angular lines.

Not yet that I've heard. You can bet that if Steve Larivee (Capt. Steve) can get his hands on it after the show that we will know soon enough. I'm guessing high 60's ...low 70's.

I'm with you on the retro look. I like the rear part of the top that with the push of a button extends back to shade the back half of the cockpit.. Look at the pic I took in the rain from the rear...I was standing high and dry on a new 350 Crossover with the same feature.

I wish the best for Formula and their success but I've never been lured by the O/B's. I understand the market rave about O/B's for saving money but I'll hold to the I/O's myself. I've just never warmed up to those eggbeaters.

I'm "Old School" and remember OB's as smokey 2 cycle stink pots that left a rainbow trail in the water around marinas and ramps. As technology has progressed things have changed dramatically. While I was at the show I stopped in at the Intrepid Boats display and this caught my eye:

[IMG][/IMG]

...a 47' Intrepid Sport Fish with 4: 627 Horsepower "7" Outboards !! A "7" is basically a 6.2 GM LSA V8 mounted to a special ZF right angle drive and gear box. This particular boat weighs in at almost 15 Tons and cruises at 60 with a Top Speed of 82 !!

NOW they have MY attention !!

Thanks for the posting the pics.

I think it's a bit of an odd-ball. It's not a cruiser, not a CC, not a sports boat, not a flybridge but is is over a million bucks! In that price range, there's a lot of nice boats out there, I'd want to make sure she ticks all the boxes.

I looked all over it and it is a nice boat. I was told low 60's with the 400's, mid 40's cruise burning around 1mpg. I was impressed with the cabin, I think it has as much usable space as a 400SS. Show price the way that one sat was just shy of a million bucks. Too much money for me but Intrepid sells a lot of boats in this size range with outboards. I guess they are going after that market.

Anybody drop the 627 Horsepower "7" Outboards on the new Skater or MTI outboard boats yet? (any of the 7 powerplants for that matter)

Thats getting up near ludicrous speed. Would be a cool combo...

No...but I hear now that there is a small outfit in the Midwest that is offering that option on their larger PONTOON BOATS !!....seriously..???!!!...would be fun though. Definitely a good application for a Kill Lanyard !!

The rep at the Intrepid Display told me that they occasionally take that 47 out for "Demo" runs and sometimes they will encounter a "Go Fast" that is amazed to see a Sport Fish running 80+ with 4~5 guys on deck !!

This was discussed on another recent thread. They really are not designed for high speed, and are more geared and marketed toward the big CC/fishing market.
